Read these instructions.

Keep these instructions.

Heed all warnings.

Follow all instructions.

Do not use this apparatus near water.

Clean only with a dry cloth.

Do not block any of the ventilation openings. Install in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.

Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding plug. The wide blade or third prong is provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.

Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point they exit from the apparatus.

Note for UK only: If the colors of the wires in the mains lead of this unit do not correspond with the terminals in your plug‚ proceed as follows: a) The wire that is colored green and yellow must be connected to the terminal that is marked by the letter E‚ the earth symbol‚ colored green or colored green and yellow.

b) The wire that is colored blue must be connected to the terminal that is marked with the letter N or the color black.

c) The wire that is colored brown must be connected to the terminal that is marked with the letter L or the color red.

Only use attachments/accessories provided by the manufacturer.

Use only with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.

Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.

15.

Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.

16.

17.

18.

Never break off the ground pin. Write for our free booklet “Shock Hazard and Grounding.” Connect only to a power supply of the type marked on the unit adjacent to the power supply cord.

If this product is to be mounted in an equipment rack, rear support should be provided.

Exposure to extremely high noise levels may cause a permanent hearing loss. Individuals vary considerably in susceptibility to noise-induced hearing loss, but nearly everyone will lose some hearing if exposed to sufficiently intense noise for a sufficient time. The U.S. Government’s Occupational and Health Administration (OSHA) has specified the following permissible noise level exposures:

Duration Per Day In Hours

According to OSHA, any exposure in excess of the above permissible limits could result in some hearing loss. Ear plugs or protectors to the ear canals or over the ears must be worn when operating this amplification system in order to prevent a permanent hearing loss, if exposure is in excess of the limits as set forth above. To ensure against potentially dangerous exposure to high sound pressure levels, it is recommended that all persons exposed to equipment capable of producing high sound pressure levels such as this amplification system be protected by hearing protectors while this unit is in operation.

Description :

MMA

800T Modular Mixer Preamp

The MMA 800T is a high-quality‚ industrial-grade audio mixer/preamp with nine input channels. Each channel provides a level control, and the master output section features bass and treble EQ controls (defeatable) and special equalization contour.

The MMA 800T provides unmatched application flexibility and an array of optional plug-in modules, allowing each system to be tailored to specialized installations. Input modules may be loaded as required for varying sound reinforcement applications (number of input channels, special functions, etc).

The program input includes a level control and is totally separate from the other eight channels. External signals may be patched in at this point as a system auxiliary input or the ninth input channel. Signals appearing at this input are routed directly to the master summing amplifier stage and are mixed with signals from the other eight channels. Systems requiring a single input may use the program input—making the purchase of an input module unnecessary. The program level control regulates the level of this input and the signal is routed through the system bass and treble controls.

The MMA 800T is packaged as a stand-alone unit but will also mount into a standard 19" rack with an optional rack-mount kit.

Features:

• Nine-channel mixing system

• 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response

• Bridging input/output

• Dedicated program input

• Contour switch (special equalization)

• Bass and treble controls

• Plug-in module capability

• Rack-mountable or stand-alone package

1. Channel Level Controls

Controls the signal levels at the channel inputs.

2. Low EQ Control (Bass)

Active equalization control that adjusts the low frequency response. Clockwise rotation boost lows while counterclockwise rotation provides a cut (reduction) of the low frequencies (±10 dB).

3. High EQ Control (Treble)

Active equalization control that adjusts the high frequency response. Clockwise rotation boost highs while counterclockwise rotation provides a cut (reduction) of the high frequencies (±10 dB).

4. Master

Controls the overall volume level of the system.

5. Program Level Control

Controls the signal level of the program input.

6. Contour Switch

The IN position of this switch provides a 6 dB boost at 100 Hz and 6 dB boost at 10 kHz.

The OUT position removes boost from the system.

7. EQ Bypass

The IN position of this switch bypasses bass and treble equalization. The OUT position allows operation of the equalization.

5

11

8. Power LED

Illuminates when AC power is being supplied to the unit.

9. Activity LED

Indicates output level from the master mixing stage. The LED illuminates when signal level is approximately 25 dB below rated output.

10. Power Switch

Depress to ON position to turn on.

14

12 13 15 16 17 20

Rear Panel 11. AC Outlet (unswitched)

Provides AC power for auxiliary equipment with a power consumption of no more than 300 watts. Using this outlet for equipment with total power consumption ratings of more than

300 watts can create a fire or shock hazard.

12. Mains Power Cord

Connect to 120V AC power source. This cord is fitted with a standard two-prong power plug with an integral large ground pin. For your safety, we have incorporated a three-wire line

(mains) cable with proper grounding facilities. It is not advisable to remove the ground pin under any circumstances. If it is necessary to use the equipment without proper grounding facilities, suitable grounding adapters should be used. Less noise and greatly reduced shock hazard exists when the unit is operated with the proper grounded receptacles.

6

13. Fuse

WARNING: The fuse should only be replaced when the power cord has been disconnected from its power source!

The fuse is located within the cap of the fuse holder. If the fuse fails, THE FUSE MUST

BE REPLACED WITH THE SAME TYPE AND VALUE IN ORDER TO AVOID DAMAGE TO THE

EQUIPMENT AND TO PREVENT VOIDING THE WARRANTY. If the amp repeatedly blows a fuse, it should be taken to a qualified service center for repair.

14. Module Input Ports

Accepts plug-in modules for all eight channels. Modules are optional and should be selected by installation requirements. NOTE: All modules will function in any of the eight ports.

15. Mute

Plug-in modules are available with muting function. The mute lines may be activated with an external switch here.

16. Remote Master Volume

Connect a 10k (linear) potentiometer across these terminals to allow remote control of the amplifier. For best results, turn the front panel Master level control fully clockwise. Refer to wiring diagram for connection details.

17. Outputs

A 600 ohm, transformer-balanced output is provided via screw terminals.

18. Aux Out

Provides an unbalanced output via RCA jack for use with external equipment such as tape decks, power amps, etc.

19. Bridge In/Out

This jack may be used as a mixing input/output point when the similar terminal of another amplifier is connected to this terminal. A separate tape recording output may be taken from this point without interaction of EQ and Master level control.

20. Program In

Accepts signals from other sources such as another mixer or mixer/amplifier, CD player or tuner. Signal level at this input in controlled by the Program level control and is fed to the

Master output. The Program may be regarded as "channel "nine" without plug-in module capability. NOTE: This input is muted whenever the mute #1 line is grounded.
